Session 1: Building an Inclusive and Welcoming Workplace for LGBTQ+ Communities

Summary: In this introductory course, attendees will build the foundation for understanding LGBTQ+ inclusion, stigma, and begin to explore allyship.

Learning Objectives

  • Examine terms and definitions utilized in the LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Understand how stigma and oppression impact LGBTQ+ communities, with special attention to intersectional discrimination in employment settings
  • Practice utilizing inclusive language with peers
  • Begin to formulate how to be an ally to LGBTQ+ people in the workplace

Who is this for?

  • All staff, leadership, managers, customer service, human resources.
  • Those who are beginning to understand LGBTQ+ communities and inclusion in the workplace

Length: 90 minutes to 2 hours

Session 2: Intersectional Allyship

Summary: This training will explore the intersections of identity, stigma, and oppression. Participants will also process implicit bias, and ways to address these biases in the workplace.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply an intersectional lens to workplace communication and professional relationships
  • Consider the implicit biases we hold and how to overcome those biases 
  • Create an action plan for intersectional allyship as individuals and workplace leaders

Who is this for? All staff, leadership, managers, customer service, human resources.

Length: 90 minutes

Session 3: Advocating for Organizational Change for LGBTQ+ Inclusion

Summary:  In this training, attendees will learn how to make the case for LGBTQ+ inclusion in their organization/business.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify different approaches to advocacy for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace 
  • Build a plan to bring inclusive practices to leadership and/or HR within an organization 
  • Practice advocacy talking points with peers and facilitators

Who is this for? 

  • Staff, ERG members
  • Those who are planning to advocate with leadership (board members, C-suite, etc) for LGBTQ+ inclusive practices

Length: 60 minutes

Session 4: Recruitment, Retention, and Workplace Policies for LGBTQ+ Staff

Summary: This training will provide attendees with the opportunity to examine the unique needs of LGBTQ+ staff or potential employees, from interview and onboarding, through retirement. Attendees will have the opportunity to develop a workplan and goals for their workplace. 

Learning Objectives

  • Examine the unique needs for LGBTQ+ employees/potential employees in relation to hiring practices, policies, and procedures  
  • Identify practices to be addressed for better recruitment and retention of LGBTQ+ staff
  • Develop a plan to implement inclusive practices and policies

Who is this for? Leadership, Managers, and HR staff
